Colour Correction

Vectorscope

The vectorscope is a circular chat which shows the video's chrominance information. Saturation is measured from the centre of the chart outwards. Saturated, bright colours make a pattern a distance from the centre of the chart and a black-and-white image produced a dot at the centre of the chart. The particular colour/hue of the image determines the direction.

RGB Parade

This scope shows waveforms representing the levels of red, green and blue channels in a clip. The waveforms appear in a graph one after another, in parade style This scope is useful for seeing the distribution of the colour elements in a clip. The levels of each colour channel are measured equally to each other using a scale of 0 to 100.

YC Waveform

YC Waveform is a graph which shows the signal intensity of the clip. The horizontal axis of the graph correlates with the video image and the vertical axis is the signal intensity in units called IRE (Institute of Radio Engineers)

Continuity Editing

Continuity Editing - A predominant style of editing in clips. The purpose of continuity editing is to establish a logical change between shots. The next 3 definitions are examples of continuity editing methods.

180 degree rule - An invisible line in which the camera should be placed behind on one particular side when theres a shot of two people in a scene. If the camera crosses the line then it can cause confusion to the audience because it looks like the characters are switching places.

Eye line match - A cut between two shots in which the first shot showings a person looking off in one direction and the second shot shows either a space containing what he/she sees, or a person looking back in exactly the opposite direction.

Match on action - Where the perspective of the camera changes during a scene and the scene continues to flow.

Napoleon Dynamite Sequence

The challange of this project was to recreate our own version of the 'Dynamite' clip from Napoleon. This was to try and get an idea of the different camera techniques for example, 180 degree rule and Eye line match etc.
After filming the different shots we had to upload them to Premiere and piece it all together.

To begin this challenge, I started by producing a storyboard where I drew out every shot and wrote a description about it. Having this story board helped massively when trying to film it because we knew what we was doing and how the camera had to be.

To film the shots we were in a team of 4, this made it quite easier because everyone had something they we're particularly good at which meant it covered all areas. We used Chris' storyboard, this was because it was most accurate out of the all. The only 'problems' we faced were just getting the angles right because sometimes we got confusion of how it was to be shot.

To organise my clips I put them in order of sequence then numbered them with a hashtag then the number of what order it was to go in.

D-day with mobas

MOBAS are a branding agency based in Cambridge. It is ranked as one of the UK's top agencies.
On the 10th October I participated in a social media event hosted by MOBAS. We had to get into groups of around 6/7 and create a social media campaign for a new clothing shop. Our group created a shop called 'Rags' which was a second hand style shop where customers brought in old clothes and students reconditioned them to make them a new item, it was an independent shop.
The things we got out of yesterday were things such as, we were able to complete our work to a deadline and just learnt more about social media. Something which could have been done differently as a group was we could have been more organised within our work meaning it would have been more productive.
